Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s ebook readers have the same display technology, similar microprocessors, internal and external storage modes, memory stick, E ink display, etc. Moreover, batteries of both can last for a week if used solely for reading and both deliver the same readability, with the same zooming features and built-in fonts. Although, these two ebook reader brands bear semblance in several areas, they do have their differences. Let’s have a look at them.
An Extra ebook Reader Generation
Amazon sells only two ebook readers as compared to Sony’s three current generation ebook readers. An extra number does not necessarily have to give a company an edge, however, Sony’s additional ebook reader does have latest features that do give it a cutting edge over Amazon’s Kindle 2.
Touch Screen Facility
To make the feeling of reading books using an ebook reader more natural, Sony has introduced two of their touch screen versions; the Daily Edition and Touch Edition. On the other hand Kindle still works on buttons like that in a cell phone. People usually do not prefer to use the page turning buttons on the keyboard of the Kindle to read. Its conspicuous buttons give the device a very awkward look. Touch screen of Sony retains the natural book feel and makes tough navigation and hand drawing easy to carry out.
Style
With respect to size, the Kindle’s screen is much larger than Sony’s and is only 1.4 ounces heavier, weighing 10.4 ounces as compared to 9 ounces of Sony Reader. The Kindle also has screen contrast which is an advantage for it. However, the Kindle is not as stylish as Sony’s ebook reader. It’s angular shape, sharp edges, peculiar button placement, etc. does not speak that well for it. Available in red, black or silver, Sony’s design is comparatively better, although both should work on it.
Wireless and Free Internet Access
The Kindle does not need the computer at all. It contains an EVDO cellular 3G connection to the Internet over Sprint. Amazon’s Kindle 2 provides the feature of Whispernet, free Internet access and free wikipedia. It also has the facility of getting cheaper ebooks and wider range of books to select from. It provides a huge selections of magazines, blogs and books to choose from. On the other hand, Sony’s reader lacks this important wireless feature, which plays a major setback for Sony. Impulsive readers will not find Sony useful because you have to preload books into your reader before hand, unlike the Kindle, where you can buy books whenever you want. Read the rest of this entry »

When it comes to importance of computers in nursing education, it is undoubtedly an important aspect to keep in the pace of the technologically advanced world. Healthcare is again a field where technology has made things lot better and increased the efficiency in patient care. Below are some of the points which highlight the uses of computers in nursing education:
•Systematic Storage of Information: Be it any education sector, proper and systematic storage of information is a mandate requirement. Nurses can use computers to take down and store notes of the patients, as they observe their condition while on rounds. As the supervised rounds involve a lot of patients and a lot of information, using a computerized personal digital assistant makes it easier to access the right medical information at the right time instead of carrying a bunch of paper work and then take time to search the piece of paper to access information when you need to be quick, efficient and accurate. These advantages of computers definitely help making the storage part a lot easier!
•Computerized Presentations: We all would agree that computerized power point presentations are much more efficient and has more impact on the receiver when it comes to presenting data. Even in the field of nursing education, computers help the nursing tutors/educators to present the large and complicated detailed form of data, which of course is a part of the medical study, in a very simplified and effective form. When speaking of uses of computers in medicine, features like power point presentations, slide shows, videos are used to present medical procedures and techniques for better understanding of complex medical procedures and their treatments.
•Simulations: The field of medicine involves the concept of “hands-on work”. I mean be it a doctor or a nurse, countless procedures are done on patients regularly. Nursing education therefore, must involve a lot of practice programs to make the students efficient to face the real life scenario. Computer programs which enable simulate such procedures therefore are of great use.
•Gives You a Wider Horizon for Research: Nursing education assignments do include a lot of materials and research topics in nursing. Computers can help you properly present and format your research, using the internet will also give you a wider horizon to find relevant study materials. The internet has many reliable and trusted website in reference to medical journals. A lot of in depth knowledge and understanding can be gained through the uses of computers in nursing education.
•Computerized Self Evaluation: Computers also contribute and help the students know their strengths and weaknesses. There are many computerized quiz and medical tests with immediate feedback that can help you brush and develop your medical facts and requirements without any delay. Your queries are solved, you know the answers and you know where you stand. A regular use of such computer applications definitely makes you more equipped and well researched for your field. Mathematics has witnessed some of the most genius brains pondering over complex problems and solving them to unravel mysteries of Universe, science and life. The world salutes the great mathematicians and their contributions. Mathematics knows no religion, culture, color, creed or gender. There have been famous black mathematicians and at the same time, female mathematicians and their contributions, that have shaped the mathematical world, all across the globe. A summarized list of famous mathematicians and their contributions forms the abridged contents of this article.
Archimedes
The greatest mathematicians of ancient era, Archimedes made phenomenal contribution in the field of mathematics. His works include integral calculus studies and finding various computation techniques to determine volume and area of several shapes including the conic section.
Euclid
Euclid, the ‘father of Geometry’, wrote the book ,”Euclid’s Elements”, that is considered to be the greatest piece of historical works in mathematics. The book is divided into 13 parts and in it, Euclid has discussed in details about geometry (what is now called as Euclidean geometry). His contributions are also famous in the fields of spherical geometry, conic sections and number theory.
Aryabhatta
Aryabhatta, the greatest Indian mathematician of ancient era, has been famous for his mathematical works and theorems on astronomical bodies that have been found to be very accurate in terms of modern calculations. “Aryabhatiya”, his only work to have survived has given the world innumerable theorems and research subjects. His two other major contributions are the, introduction of zero to the world and calculating the approximate value of pie. His works are also spread in fields like include algebra, arithmetic, trigonometry, quadratic equations and the sine table.
Ramanujam
Srinivasa Ramanujan Iyengar, the greatest Indian mathematician of 20th century, contributed immensely in fields like number theory, mathematical analysis, string theory and crystallography. His genius has been admired by some greatest contemporary mathematicians of his time. He is hailed to be one of the most famous mathematicians in the field of number theory. Although he lived for a short span of 32 years, he compiled nearly 3900 phenomenal results that leave even the best mathematical brains of today in sheer awe and wonder!

To understand the two concepts of domain and range, one needs to understand what is meant by a mathematical function. A function is a unique relation between two sets of variables, wherein one set completely determines what the other set will be and every element in the first set has an associated unique element in the other set. I assume that you know what are dependent and independent variables. The variables of the first set are known as independent variables while second set variables are dependent ones. For example, consider the function ‘y = x + 5′. Here ‘x’ is the independent variable while y is dependent. For every integral value of x, y has a unique fixed value. In defining function, I have already defined what a domain and range of function is. Let us see what exactly they are.
Domain is the set of all values that an independent variable of a function can take. The range is the corresponding set of values determined by entering domain values in the function. In the above function, (y = f (x) = x + 5), the independent variable x can take all the real number values and hence its domain is the set of all real numbers. For each value of x, corresponding dependent variable values are also real numbers, which means that range of this function is the set of all real numbers.
Consider one more example. Let the function be ‘y = 1 / (1 – x)’ and you need to find the domain for this function. As you can see, for x = 1, the function is undefined. However, for all other values it is defined and can be calculated. Hence, the domain of this function is the set of all real numbers except the value of x which is 1. Also the set of values of ‘y’, for every x are again real numbers. Therefore range of this function will also be a set of real numbers. To accurately know the range of a function, you need to draw a graph. You could also use mathematical software programs that can plot functions for you. You also might want to know what is the difference between an equation and an expression.
